Folk and electronic is an odd combination, but one that’s ever-increasing in popularity. Montreal-based singer/songwriter Geoffroy flexes both muscles and shows that this is a trend worth getting behind with his 2015 track “Soaked in Gold”. He’s expanding his audience by visiting other provinces and territories, before having only toured in Quebec in 2014. This new track gives the fans what they want to hear.
Crisply modern, Geoffroy’s laze-imbued sound is oddly sensual with its words and carefully considered with every note and beat drop. It’s not the “get up and go” song that rock artists aspire to, and it certainly wasn’t meant to be. It’s the new age lounge song with an undertone of angst – it’s one of those tracks that are difficult to describe.
