When popular indie music comes to mind, people seldom think of the saxophonists in the community. Cue in Landen Vieira, fluent in jazz since the age of 12 and a budding musician who has just released his debut album Dream (2015). Prior to the release, Vieira was known for performing with bassist Dave Young as well as many notable acts in jazz.
Grab a glass of cognac and a cigar and settle down, because Vieira presents around fifty solid minutes of saxophone and piano jazz. While each track brings a different taste of the jazz vibe, “Vista” is the one with the most amount of spunk. Seductive tracks like “Dove” are like coming home after a long day, stretching out, and allowing yourself a simple pleasure. It risks sounding a tad generic after a while, but the talent that Vieira exudes cannot be disputed.
